Comrade Mujahid Shu’aibu, popularly known as Genero, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in the upcoming leadership election scheduled for October 29, 2025.
The declaration was made during a press conference held at the Katsina State Ministry of Youth and Sports conference hall, attended by community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders, Katsina Times reports.
In his address, Genero said his ambition stems from “commitment, service, and a vision for responsible leadership.”
“My journey in youth leadership has been built on sacrifice and service to the community. I have led the National Association of University Students (NAUS) as president and currently serve as the NYCN Secretary in Katsina State. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and vision to bring credibility and growth to the council,” he stated.
Genero unveiled his agenda under the theme “A New Hope for Youths,” which includes:
Reforming the council with transparency and modern structures.
Establishing a National Youth Enterprise and Innovation Fund (NYEIF) and youth employment clusters in partnership with government and private sector.
Expanding youth access to vocational training, education, scholarships, and digital technology through the Code 4 Niger initiative.
Setting up mental health centres across the six geopolitical zones and launching a national youth mental health programme.
Ensuring 35% youth representation in governance and creating a Youth Peace Ambassadors scheme.
He expressed appreciation to Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, the Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, and state NYCN leaders for their continuous support.
“This declaration is not just about seeking office—it is about renewing hope that Nigerian youths have the strength, innovation, and leadership to transform this country. Together, we can make history and build a stronger nation,” he affirmed.
The event opened with prayers and goodwill messages from youth leaders and representatives across Katsina State.
